RE: Tire Temps - is 160F too hot?

I bought one of the ir thermometers. Really pretty neat. Found that on real hot days on a blacktop road the tires get hot on the sunny side. On cold days on concrete, not so much.

RE: Boulder dam

We went through there last year with a 37' and a toad. No problems. they are building a new bridge that will keep traffic off the dam. Seems like it should be done soon.

RE: Gout

I take a daily med called Allopurinol. Keeps the "purines" down. Fresh cherries help, beer and asperagus are bad. I still drink a beer or more each night. I had an attack about ten years ago. Very dibilitating. Good luck.

RE: Doom and Gloom!

Amazing how many people buy the media "bailing out wall street" BS. The folks that they are protecting are anybody that has savings in a US financial institution. People that are up to their ears in debt will fail. Owning a home is not a right, it is something to be earned. If you have credit card debt, you are just not very smary smart (dumb?).

RE: If bail out passes and works

IF Congress includes bad credit card debt, our money is going to decrease in value.
Congress is considering including bad credit card debt? I somehow missed that one. Do you mean Congress is considering allowing those who borrowed money with credit cards to walk away from their debt or force the credit card companies to lower the interest rate or write down some of the debt for people who can't afford to make the credit card payments?
Jean
That was proposed by one of the democrates. Don't think that will last long. Not sure that this will go down as proposed. The Republicans are saying not so fast. Maybe the wall street companies should foot the bill. I know that we are not supposed to include politics, just reporting the news. (that you may not get in the media).

RE: Treasury working overtime to print money........

I think the Treasury should out source the work to China, that way the US could save a lot of money!!!!
I think that you need to do a little homework. Congress manages Fannie and Freddie. They are the folks that were asleep at the switch. In 2003 Treasury went to Congress and recommended tightening loan requirements. No way said Frank and Graham. Poor folk wont be able to get mortages that way. In 1999 they pushed lenders to loan more money to poor people regardless of their ability to repay. And quit bothering them for documentation. I think that we need to outsource congress.

RE: Treasury working overtime to print money........

This is extremely dangerous. If you have any doubts, look at Italy's history.
I think that you can look at our history. If the financial systems fail we are back to the 30's and 20 years of depression. I'm not a fan of this $700B bailout. Maybe there is a better alternative. But the collapes of the financial system is not one of them.

RE: If bail out passes and works

I still see higher prices for used units at some point due to the lower number of new units being built. IF the banks can move their bad loans off of the books in the next 6 months things could be popping shortly afterwards. The tax payers (non tax payers exempt?) will be on the hook for up to 1 trillion dollars. The IF is huge at this point. The picture should be clearly this time next week if Washington is going to act and not just talk.
My BIL is builder who is paying interest on a spec house and I assume this is common across the US so that is not good for the long term for anything. Banks have a lot of their money in like assets. My BIL does not have the cash to pay off the loan (he can service it for years) so what happens when the source who made the loan to the bank so they could loan the money to my BIL wants their money. Liquidity is the real issue as I understand it.
Pretty sure that I would not expect higher prices for impaired assets.

If they don't do something there will be no RV industry. If they do, there will be four RV companies in 10 years.

RE: Great Camping Chairs

Am I the only one that doesn't like them? So far, all my camping buddies love them. I don't find them comfortable. Then again, my wife has always said I'm not normal...
No, your not the only one, I don't like a chair that pushes my legs out in front. I like to sit straight. If I need a recliner there is one in the MH.

RE: Crude futures to go under $90 BBL Today

Isn't it amazing, that when the legal arm starts looking into commodity trading, how the speculators sell and run for cover. LOL
The reverse happened Tuesday morning, as oil prices fell below $109 per barrel. Light, sweet crude for November delivery dropped 78 cents to $108.84 on the New York Mercantile Exchange after dipping close to $106.
I'm pretty sure that you don't have a clue what happened yesterday and today. Yesterday was an expiration date for the Sep oil futures. There was a very large short position on the low side of the trade.
Oil, because of the dip sticks in congress was actually bumping up. That means that the folks that were betting on a lower price had to quickly buy to cover their positions. That quickly pushed the price much higher. It has nothing to do with some lawyer looking at trading. They wouldn't have a clue what they are looking at anyway.
Guess that you don't do much trading.

RE: Want to impress newbies

Hi, we are going to be camping next weekend with 3 families who are relatively new to camping, certainly new to creative camp cooking, so my sister in law and I are trying to think of meals that will "wow" them. We are just going to be gone over the weekend so Friday night will be quick, probably hot dogs, and/or pie iron sandwhiches. Then Sat morning we hope to make zip lock omelettes, sausage and apples and biscuits baked in dutch oven. For Sat night supper, I am going to make pot roasts with potatoes and carrotts in cast iron roaster over the campfire, and probably a cherry cobbler in a dutch oven. The other meals will be up to the novices, probably lite meals since the big ones will keep us all pretty full. Can anyone think of anything else that might impress the newbies and help them catch the camping fever?
Hi! This cousin Dan. We decided to go camping with you. Where are you camping?

RE: Crude futures to go under $90 BBL Today

Big short squeeze today. Lots of the mean old speculators were betting on lower prices and had to buy to cover their positions. Gas futures are actually a bit lower.
I speculate on stuff every day.
